Rodeo, first recorded in the 19th century, is closely tied to the Western United States. At the intersection of mixed-race, Native American and Anglo-Saxon culture, these events began as competitions between ranches, where horseback riding and rope techniques were the protagonists, and there were few rules. Among the pioneers of what would become an incredibly popular sport among Americans were black ranchers and herders who, over the course of the 20th century, forever changed rodeo with revolutionary and spectacular techniques. Paying homage to America's first action sport, the colors and details of this Dunk Low are inspired by the Southwestern tradition, born of the black pioneers who shaped it.
