Introducing the new QS Nike SB in collaboration with Diné (Navajo) artist, skater and mentor Di'Orr Greenwood. This collection includes two exclusive models: the Nike SB Dunk Decon Hi and the Blazer Mid, which embody symbolism, concepts and a profound message that reflects Diné (Navajo) culture and history.
Di'Orr Greenwood reminds us that art is present in every aspect of our daily lives. “We wake up admiring what Mother Nature creates,” he says. Every flower, every item of clothing brings with it a story, a series of creative steps that often go unnoticed. This philosophy is reflected in the design of his shoes, where every detail has been designed to tell a story.
When Di'Orr began designing these shoes, he wanted them to reflect the duality of life: good and evil, joy and pain. This theme is central to the design of the shoes, which represent both moments of happiness and the difficulties faced by the Diné community.
The Blazer Mid is characterized by gray tones that symbolize the path of struggle and resistance of the Diné culture. The silver details with a small turquoise ornament represent the light in the darkness, a constant guide even in the most difficult moments. The grooves that start from the toe and extend around the shoe represent the battles overcome not only by the indigenous community, but by all of humanity against the forces of nature.
The Decon Dunk High is much more colorful and vibrant, with a base that includes four colors symbolic of the four sacred mountains surrounding the Dinétah. Each color is associated with a mountain and a stone linked to the four cardinal points, creating a profound connection between the earth, spirituality and Diné culture. The turquoise details and black trim with star accents represent the importance of clean water and the constant presence of stars as a symbol of guidance and protection.
Both designs are a tribute to the perseverance and resilience of Diné culture. The Blazer Mid recalls the Diné forced march to Bosque Redondo, while the Decon Dunk High celebrates the beauty and strength of Navajo tales and traditions.
